KCET Mathematics · Chapter Priority · 2027

Maths is widely called the rank-decider in KCET. Calculus decides most of that.

The toughest of the four KCET subjects, and the most lengthy and calculation-heavy — but weightage isn't spread evenly. The five chapters that consistently carry the most marks across past papers, what's inside each, and what to prioritise while revising.

How this ranking was built

KEA doesn't publish chapter-wise weightage for KCET — these five are the chapters that show up most consistently as high-yield across analysis of past KCET Maths papers. Maths is widely considered the toughest of the four subjects, with roughly 60–70% of questions being calculation-based rather than direct recall — which is exactly why a handful of chapters end up carrying a disproportionate share of the marks.

The Ranking

The 5 chapters, ranked

1Rank 1 of 5

Integrals & Application of Integrals

2nd PUC · Calculus · Highest individual chapter weightage

Consistently the single highest-weightage chapter in KCET Maths — roughly 8–9% of the paper on its own, year on year.

What's inside: Indefinite and definite integrals, integration by substitution/parts/partial fractions, area under curves.

Priority: standard integration techniques by substitution and parts — these form the base for most questions here.

2Rank 2 of 5

Continuity, Differentiability & Application of Derivatives

2nd PUC · Calculus · Core foundation for Integrals

Sits right alongside Integrals as the backbone of Calculus — without this chapter solid, Integrals becomes noticeably harder to work through quickly.

What's inside: Continuity and differentiability conditions, chain rule, increasing/decreasing functions, maxima and minima, rate of change problems.

Priority: maxima/minima and rate-of-change word problems — the most frequently repeated application type.

3Rank 3 of 5

Matrices & Determinants

2nd PUC · Algebra · Predictable, formula-based

Widely flagged as one of the more scoring chapters — questions are direct and formula-based, making it a reliable place to pick up quick marks.

What's inside: Matrix operations, types of matrices, determinant properties, adjoint and inverse of a matrix, solving equations using matrices.

Priority: inverse-of-a-matrix and solving-linear-equations problems — the most common question format.

4Rank 4 of 5

Vectors & 3D Geometry

2nd PUC · Coordinate Geometry · High weightage, often combined together

Consistently high-weightage on its own, and frequently tested as combined vector-3D questions — worth revising the two together rather than separately.

What's inside: Vector algebra, dot and cross products, direction cosines, equations of lines and planes, shortest distance between lines.

Priority: equation of a line/plane and shortest-distance problems — these repeat most consistently across years.

5Rank 5 of 5

Probability

1st & 2nd PUC · Consistent, direct questions

Flagged as one of the more dependable 1st PUC-rooted chapters — questions tend to be direct rather than needing long chains of calculation.

What's inside: Conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, independent events, probability distributions, binomial distribution.

Priority: Bayes' theorem and conditional probability problems — the most frequently tested question type in this chapter.

This isn't the full syllabus — it's a starting point if time is short. Permutations & Combinations, Binomial Theorem and Sequences & Series are also worth strong revision once these five are solid.

Student review

Concepts that finally clicked

One student credited the video lessons with clearing up tricky ray-diagram topics, then used the live revision sessions to consolidate everything before the exam.

Student review

Faster answers, less back-and-forth

Another described the notes as a real help for short-answer and map-based questions, cutting down the time spent hunting for the right structure to write.

Student review

Doubts resolved same day

A third pointed to the WhatsApp and Telegram doubt-solving groups, where teachers responded quickly instead of leaving questions to pile up before the next class.

Paraphrased from student reviews shared on the Parikshe website and app listing.

“Seven years. 85% average score. 100% pass rate. That's the track record before KCET — now it's the target, with the same team and Samagra Shikshana Karnataka as our partner on the ground.”
